Metroquadro

In geometry, a square meter is the area enclosed by a square with sides one meter long. Its official formulation is m2, often replaced by the more informal and colloquial Mq. Having a unit to measure a space geometrically is necessary for architectural and engineering functions. However, it is also important to measure how a space responds to the minimum social and human conditions that make it, or not, suitable for life. Starting from these premises, Metroquadro explores the relationship between law and the spaces in which it manifests itself. Abandoning a concept of geometric and isotropic space, according to which every point in a plane enjoys the same properties, Mq places the emphasis on the metamorphosis that transforms a space into a place, giving it power and value. In particular, each issue is a story of those places of contemporary Italy in which a reflection on the right to space is urgently needed to bring out stories of people living in a situation of inequality due to spaces and rights denied.
